It is fashionable now to associate it with the goddess, and the womanly triad of maiden, mother, crone, but in ancient Ireland there were many triads, for example:

"Three things which justice demands: judgment, measure, conscience. Three things which judgment demands: wisdom, penetration, knowledge."

"Three fair things that hide ugliness: good manners in the ill-favoured, skill in a serf, wisdom in the misshapen."
