This piece is based on an artefact that I saw in the
Canadian Museum of Civilization in the Viking Millennium
exhibition. The original was of heavy silver, though I have
made mine only slightly smaller.
It makes use of various techniques including
piercing, champlevé, cloisonné and foils.
The dragons
surrounding the central panels are typical of Viking art.( See
Viking Dragon #1)
