These are parts of a
mobile that was purchased in South America many years ago.
The owner was quite attached to it, but sadly most of the
enamel was cracking and flaking off. Upon examination it
became clear that the pieces had not been counter-enamelled
(enamelled on the back) which would have given them
stability.
The piece had a great deal of charm, but was very poorly
executed.

I used
very thin copper, so as not to throw off the balance, but
enamelled the pieces on both sides to give them strength. I
also used silicone based glue to position the pieces. The original
epoxy had dried and crumbled over the years, while silicone
will maintain its elasticity
