My first collaboration
has been with my friend Michelangelo Iaffaldano. Michelangelo
is a prominent member of the experimental music community in
Toronto, but he is also a very fine artist. He first came to
the studio interested to learn champleve. He made a few very
nice pieces, but later became interested in the technique of
graphite on enamel, perhaps because he is already an accomplished
pencil artist - as is shown by this, our first joint piece.
My part was really very
simple. I fired three coats of the colour of his choice
(which was Cork brown) on both sides of the 3" diameter
copper circle. He took on the exacting and tedious task of
stoning the surface down and drawing on it, and then I fired
it one last time.
