Catherine
has been singing professionally for 20
years. While her early influences were
revivalist singers, and her first
experience was singing in a band, she has
been increasingly drawn to the more
traditional unaccompanied styles.
Catherine is especially drawn to the
traditional music of Ireland, and has
developed a course to teach an
appreciation of the 'sean nos' (old
style) using recordings of respected
traditional singers. Her own singing has
developed into a full throated
combination of modern expression and old
world restraint. She has a large
repertoire of unaccompanied songs from
the Irish, Scottish and English
traditions, many from Canadian
collections, that she sings in English.

Cloud Folk Club and the
Chris Langan Week-end in
Toronto, the Goderich Celtic
Roots Festival in
Ontario, Celtic Heritage Festival
in New Orleans, Catskills
Irish Arts Week in East Durham, NY, and the Potomac Celtic
Festival in Leesburg,
Virginia. Catherine is a respected member
of the Canadian traditional music
community, and has served as a juror for
the prestigious Canadian JUNO
Awards in the "Folk, Roots
and Traditional" category.
