Aphrodite (sea foam)
When Kronos castrated his father Ouranos with a diamond sickle, he
threw the testicles on the ocean, and they became the sea foam out of
which Aphrodite grew.
She is particularly associated with the isle of
Cyprus, where she was supposed to have originally landed.
Because Zeus thought it likely that she would
cause jealousy and bickering amongst the gods by virtue of her extreme
beauty and sexuality - she was married to lame Haephestus, who was not
considered to be a threat.
She could not deny her nature, however, and had
affairs with Adonis and Ares (and many others!) and fomented
love wherever she went., though often troubled love as in the case of
Helen & Paris or Cupid & Psyche.
